There are times when we have to look close at the monitor, because a text fragment or certain details on a picture are too small to see with the naked eye. The latest Windows versions come with magnifying tools and you can find third party applications as well, but few of them can match HyperLens' capabilities. It places a magnifying lens around the mouse cursor, like all similar applications, but it also provides a wide range of controls, for customizing the lens. Changing its shape and size, applying color filters and effects are just a few examples.

HyperLens is free to try for a limited period of time. An unobtrusive watermark, placed on the magnifying lens is the trial version's only limitation. If you have installed any application on your computer before, you shouldn't have any difficulties with HyperLens. It works on Windows 2000 and all later editions and it can be installed in a matter of seconds.

The application comes with a tabbed interface, on which you may customize the magnifying lens, enable various cursor effects, customize a series of keyboard shortcuts and make a few changes to the program's behavior. The lens can be activated by clicking an option, located on a toolbar. You can also find options for resetting the lens and setting it to full screen mode.

Besides zooming in and out, between magnification levels of 100 and 3200, you can also rotate the lens, increase or decrease the color level and take screenshots, using keyboard shortcuts. Other settings can be made on the user interface. The application allows you to adjust the red, green and blue channels, the brightness and contrast, saturation and hue.

It is also possible to switch between different color modes, like true color, grayscale, invert and sepia and apply different sharpening filters. Additionally, you can choose one of many texture filters, like canvas, old paper and others. The best part is that HyperLens allows you to save your configurations as presets. This makes it possible to apply an entire set of configurations instantly, with a single click.

Pros

HyperLens is not limited to magnifying a certain area on the screen. It allows you to change the shape and size of the lens, apply color filters and effects and much more. You can also set up various keyboard shortcuts and enable cursor effects.

Cons

While running, the application will disable the Aero effect in Windows 7 and Vista, because it will not work properly with Aero enabled. The advanced magnification capabilities of HyperLens enable you to give your presentation a professional look.
